Andres Iniesta will move to the Chinese Super League at the end of the season with the midfielder expected to announce his departure from Barcelona after this weekend’s Copa del Rey final, according to Diario AS.
The 33-year-old is set to draw the curtain on his 17-year stay at Barcelona with his management team currently negotiating deals with clubs from China with an announcement expected to be made on the weekend.
It is understood that as many as four clubs submitted significant financial offers to Iniesta, who is expected to sign a three-year contract.
Following the conclusion of Barcelona versus Sevilla in the Copa del Rey final, the World Cup winner is excepted to announce his plans for next season, with Barcelona accepting that this is his final season at the club.
AS report that as Barcelona and the 33-year-old were crashing out of the Champions League at the hands of AS Roma his representatives were busy working on a deal that will see him leave Spain at the end of the season.
His next destination is China, with numerous clubs offering him sustainable packages with his management team thrashing out various clauses to be included as part of the deal.
When asked about where he had made his decision over leaving Barcelona, Iniesta responded:
“When I have to give my opinion, the club will know it and then everyone else will find out. Right now, I’m happy with the game today, because LaLiga means a huge amount.”
