Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has revealed who the foundation of the Reds’ side is.
Liverpool have a number of experienced leaders in their squad such as Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson and James Milner.
Alisson himself is also an imposing figure. However, when speaking recently, the Brazilian stated that it was manager Jurgen Klopp who is the foundation of their team: "He is the key figure in our squad. He is the foundation of our team.
“He is the one who started it all. Our mentality is just like his. He chose all the players in the team, signed most of them, and brought most of them here."
"And [Klopp isn't just a key figure in this team] because of his qualities as a coach, but also because of the type of person he is, his character."
"He is the person who keeps us united, and who is responsible for reminding us in the decisive moments of how strong we are together and united."
"And he is also the one keeping our feet on the ground, so we're not distracted by the good results that we have been getting over the past few years."
Liverpool vs Villarreal
Liverpool must now turn their attention to the Champions League.
The Merseysiders will face off with Spanish powerhouse Villarreal in the first of two Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday.
Liverpool are the clear favourites for the match but will no doubt be wary of the Yellow Submarine’s superb record in knockout football under Unai Emery.
