AC Milan are in a group alongside Chelsea, RB Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb. After two games, it is Milan who occupy top spot.

They have picked up four points, whilst Chelsea have only mustered up two.

Milan and Chelsea are now due to face off at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday the 5th of October, before clashing at the San Siro six days later on October 11th.

Should Chelsea fail to garner positive results from both games, it is hard to see them making it out of their group after such a slow start.

The games also have some significance for Milan, as two losses in a row could also derail their European campaign.

Speaking recently, though, Stefano Piolo is under the impression that Milan’s match with Empoli on October 1st will be a more difficult match than Chelsea:

Elsewhere, Thiago Silva has revealed he has been speaking with form Milan teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic:

“I talk often with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and recently more often because Chelsea will play against AC Milan in the Champions league,” he said. “My aim is to play until I’m 40 years old but I don’t know if it will be this level or this competition.

“It depends on this season and we’ll see what will happen in the World Cup. It also depends on a contract extension but yeah, my aim is to play until I’m 40.”
