Aaron Ramsdale hits out at claims Arsenal bottled Premier League title

Aaron Ramsdale has responded to recent criticism of Arsenal.

Arsenal spent the majority of the current season sat top of the Premier League and on course to win their first title since 2004.

However, the Gunners’ title push began to unravel in April. Arsenal drew three games on the bounce vs Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton.

They then lost to title rivals Manchester City before being put to the sword by Brighton last weekend.

That final result means Manchester City are very likely to be crowned Premier League champions this weekend despite only spending a few weeks atop of the table.

After this collapse, many have moved to label Arsenal as ‘bottlers’ and Aaron Ramsdale has responded to these claims.

When asked if it frustrates Ramsdale to hear his team being described as ‘bottlers’, he replied: “It does when it comes from certain people who don’t necessarily have the knowledge or experience.”

“This narrative of ‘bottled it’, I think it is an easy way out. It is just a quick, cheap narrative from certain people who have not actually gone digging into the story of what we have achieved. And some people are saying it and forgetting that other teams in other years have had the same experience as us by missing out on the title by a certain number of points. For us, we are disappointed, but extremely proud of ourselves as well.”
