Aaron Ramsdale comments highlight naivety of Arsenal’s tactics vs Burnley
Aaron Ramsdale has moved to question Arsenal’s tactics during their latest outing.
Arsenal’s final game before the current break would see them face off with Burnley on Sunday.
The Gunners headed into the game looking to bounce back from their League Cup exit at the hands of Liverpool.
In the end, though, Arsenal were forced to settle for a share of the spoils, drawing 0-0 with a Burnley side who have won just one league game all season.
Following the game, it was revealed that Arsenal put in 25 crosses against Burnley, only two of which found a teammate:
Arsenal fired in 25 crosses today – just two found a team-mate. Probably not the best tactic against Burnley

Given Burnley are very well known for their physical presence and aerial prowess, Arsenal’s continued attempts to cross the ball seemed like an odd move.
And now, Aaron Ramsdale has moved to, in a very nice way, hit out at Arsenal’s decision to continue putting crosses into the Burnley box, stating: “We didn’t really take the game to them, I’ll give credit to Burnley, they defended well.
“We put balls in the box and that’s meat and drink to Burnley, so it’s a difficult one.
“It’s definitely a missed opportunity for three points and to gain places back in the league but I’ll take the positive of a clean sheet, with the defending of the whole team. But definitely a frustrating day.”
Arsenal need a striker
Arsenal’s poor showing vs Burnley can be attributed, in at least some part, to them being without midfield pair Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka.
But the even more glaring issue is that the Gunners really need a new striker to finish the chances they are creating.
The poor showing of their current set of forwards against Burnley even led to many Arsenal fans urging the club to get a deal for Dusan Vlahovic done as soon as possible.
