£120,000 per week Arsenal star named ‘most valuable’ in his position by Football experts CIES

The unsung hero has topped the latest pricing charts

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been named the most valuable shot-stopper on the planet, ahead of the likes of Alisson and Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to football price experts CIES.

The Gunners shot-stopper, who signed a new contract in the final weeks of the 2022-23 season, was vital to Arsenal’s excellent campaign, keeping 14 clean sheets in 38 outings, a stat that left him joint second in the race for the Golden glove behind Manchester United’s David de Gea.

Ramsdale won save of the month on two occasions and he was also nominated for save of the season, courtesy of stops against Liverpool and Arsenal that saved his side vital points in the Premier League.

It is his ability to play out from the back that initially saw him step into the Arsenal first team though, and that has continued to improve in the last 12 months, with the 25-year-old among the best in the Premier League with the ball at his feet.

With still almost a decade left in the top flight, he has been named the most valuable goalkeeper in the world this season, with a value of 79m euros should the Gunners wish to cash in on him.

That valuation puts him 4m clear of second place Donnarumma and a massive 12m euros clear of his next Premier League rival in the form of Liverpool’s goalkeeper Alisson.

Bought for £25m from Sheffield United in 2021, plenty of eyebrows were raised when Arsenal opted to splash out such a sum on a goalkeeper that had been relegated from the Premier League twice already in his short career.

Two years on, however, they have been proved spot on with their recruitment, while Ramsdale has come to call the Emirates his home and is a firm fan favourite.
