LIVE – Real Madrid v Bayern Munich: Commentary, updates, goals and stats

Real Madrid will hope to bounce back from a disappointing weekend domestically when they resume their Champions League campaign against Bayern Munich tonight.

Madrid’s hopes of winning La Liga suffered a major blow on Saturday when they lost 2-1 at Real Mallorca – Vedat Muriqi grabbing the winner for the hosts in injury-time – with Barcelona winning 2-1 at Atletico Madrid later in the day.

The Catalans are seven points clear with eight games remaining and overwhelming favourites to retain their crown.

Madrid will be desperate for redemption in Europe and to add to their record 15 European Cup/Champions League titles. To advance to the last four, however, they will have to see off Vincent Kompany’s all-conquering Bayern side.

On the same afternoon Madrid succumbed to a last-gasp goal in Mallorca, Bayern were netting twice in injury-time to win 3-2 at Freiburg and maintain their nine-point advantage at the top of the Bundesliga.

Bayern have lost just one of 28 top-flight games this season.
