Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich: Deal back on after Blues recall Guiu from Sunderland

Nicolas Jackson’s move to Bayern Munich could be revived today with Chelsea now willing to let the striker depart.

A deal for the Senegal international to move to the Bundesliga champions was seemingly off yesterday morning after Liam Delap sustained a hamstring injury during Chelsea’s controversial 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday.

Jackson, who had already travelled to Germany to complete an initial loan deal with Bayern holding an option to make the move permanent for £56million, was reportedly furious at Chelsea’s u-turn.

Bayern Munich’s director of sport Max Eberl told Sky in Germany: “Chelsea have informed us that they want the player back after we reached an agreement yesterday and [permission] to conduct a medical.

“Now the situation is that the boy is in Munich and we have to send him back. That’s the current state of affairs, but I can’t look into the future.”

Guiu return key to Chelsea u-turn

The situation changed when Chelsea asked about Marc Guiu returning from his own loan deal at Sunderland.

It has been reported Chelsea were willing to pay Sunderland to cancel the arrangement, and the Wearsiders were willing to agree with Guiu looking off the pace in his first few outings for the club.

Asked about Delap after the Fulham game, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca said: “Liam’s injury doesn’t look good. He was full speed, hamstring, so that requires weeks.

“When you have two strikers it’s enough. When one of them is injured for weeks, probably it’s not enough. Today we played more than an hour with Tyrique [George], he did brilliant.

“When you have two proper nines, it’s enough.”

Should Jackson join Bayern today he will principally act as back-up to Harry Kane.
