Manchester City have no option but to bounce back swiftly from their FA Cup disappointment if they wish to strengthen their claim for a place in next season’s Champions League.

Pep Guardiola’s men were beaten 1-0 by Crystal Palace at Wembley on Saturday, ending their bid to land some silverware this season but consolation could come from securing a place among the European elite.

It is something the club have taken for granted in recent years but this season has been a real struggle for the four-time defending Premier League champions.

Tonight will also mark the final appearance at the Etihad for brilliant Belgian Kevin De Bruyne.

Bournemouth’s bid to qualify for Europe is over after Brighton’s win over Liverpool last night and they will travel north with little to play for.
