Manchester City were aiming to keep pace with Premier League leaders Arsenal when the Cityzens visited Crystal Palace.

City had beaten Sunderland 3-0 at home in their previous league game and won 2-1 at Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Crystal Palace were also victorious in Europe, winning 3-0 at Irish side Shelbourne in the Conference League the following day.

Oliver Glasner’s players had won their previous three matches in all competitions and beat City 1-0 in the FA Cup final in May.
