Crystal Palace sign Guessand on loan from Aston Villa
Guessand only joined Villa in August but has struggled for games and form.
Crystal Palace have signed Evann Guessand on loan from Aston Villa.
Guessand makes the move to Selhurst Park until the end of the season, with the Eagles having the option to sign him on a permanent deal thereafter.
The Ivory Coast international joined Villa from Nice in August on a five-year deal.
However, he made just 13 starts, with his tally of two goals in 21 appearances marking a disappointing start to his career in the Premier League.
He will hope for better fortune with Palace, who have added him to their attack amid speculation surrounding the future of Jean-Philippe Mateta. Oliver Glasner’s side are in an alarming slump and sit just eight points above the relegation zone.
“I’m really, really excited. I was waiting for this moment for a very long time, and I’m excited to play with my new team-mates,” Guessand told the club’s official website.
“I think, with the quality we have, we can achieve something.”
Chairman Steve Parish added: “Evann is an exciting talent who we are confident will flourish on the South London stage.
“His arrival further bolsters our forward options, as we look to push on in the Premier League and in Europe in the second half of the season.”
