Manchester United return to league action this afternoon following their morale-boosting win in Spain in midweek.

United produced arguably their best performance of the season to win 3-0 at Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday night, albeit they were helped by the first-half dismissal of home defender Dani Vivian.

Boss Ruben Amorim will hope for more of the same at the Gtech Stadium although they are likely to meet sterner resistance from Brentford.

Thomas Frank’s side start the day in 11th and still in with an outside chance of qualifying for Europe following two hugely impressive wins in their last two games – against Brighton and Nottingham Forest.

Frank named the same side that played so well at the City Ground on Thursday night.

Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo will provide the attacking threat for the hosts.

Brentford: Flekken, Kayode, Collins, Van Den Berg, Lewis-Potter, Norgaard, Yarmoliuk, Damsgaard, Wissa, Mbeumo, Schade

Amorim made his priorities clear with a team selection that saw just three players that started in Bilbao retain their places in the XI.

Patrick Dorgu, Manuel Ugarte and Alejandro Garnacho remained but there were widespread changes elsewhere.

Young defender Tyler Fredricson is included, as is Harry Amass, while 17-year-old striker Chido Obi makes his first start in place of Rasmus Hojlund.

Luke Shaw captains the side.

Manchester United: Bayindir; De Ligt, Fredricson, Shaw; Dorgu, Amass, Ugarte, Mainoo; Mount, Garnacho, Obi
