Real Madrid have to play catch-up once again this afternoon when they take on Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Barcelona’s lead at the top of the table extended to seven points last night following their come-from-behind win at Valladolid, placing the pressure firmly on Carlo Ancelotti and his side.

There is also plenty at stake for Celta, who start the day in seventh place and looking to bolster their claim for a place in next season’s Europa League.

With Rodygo absent through illness, Ancelotti turned to Arda Guler to fill the void.

The Turkey international has been getting more minutes in recent weeks and has taken advantage with several impressive displays, including scoring the only goal in the 1-0 win at Getafe in Madrid’s last league outing.

Dani Ceballos got the nod in midfield over Luka Modric while Aurelien Tchouameni drops into defence to cover for the injured, and suspended, Antonio Rudiger.

Real Madrid: Courtois; Vazquez, Tchouameni, Asencio, Fran Garcia; Valverde, Ceballos, Guler; Bellingham, Vinicius Jr, Mbappe
