Real Madrid capped off their La Liga season with a 2-0 win over Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabeu, in a game that doubled as an emotional farewell for club legends Luka Modric and Carlo Ancelotti.
Kylian Mbappe was the star of the show, netting twice to seal the win in a match dominated by the hosts.
Madrid enjoyed the lionβs share of possession early on, with Guler and Valverde orchestrating plenty of attacks through midfield. Mbappe had a couple of half-chances denied by Remiro, while Sociedadβs best opening came when Sergio Gomez was played through, only for Lunin to pull off a fine save.
The breakthrough arrived in the 38th minute when VAR awarded Madrid a penalty after a handball by Marin.
Mbappeβs initial effort was saved by Unal Marrero, but the Frenchman reacted quickest to tuck home the rebound, giving Madrid a deserved 1-0 lead heading into half-time.
Sociedad made a flurry of substitutions to try and find a way back, but Madridβs control of possession continued. Ancelottiβs men were patient, with Valverde and Guler continuing to probe for openings. Diaz went down injured and was replaced by Vinicius Junior, who immediately added more dynamism to Madridβs left flank.

The second goal came in the 83rd minute, with Vinicius and Mbappe combining beautifully. Vinicius drove at the Sociedad defence before slipping a perfectly weighted ball into Mbappeβs path. The Frenchman finished at the near post, effectively killing off the game.
Beyond the result, it was an emotional night for the Bernabeu faithful. Lucas Vazquez and Luka Modric both received standing ovations as they were substituted in the final minutes.
Modric, in particular, was serenaded by the crowd and given a guard of honour by both teams, marking the end of an era for one of the clubβs greatest-ever midfielders.
It was also Ancelotti’s last game in charge before taking up the Brazil job, and the legendary head coach was also given his own special farewell after delivering plenty of memories over two spells in Spain.
