Kylian Mbappe AVAILABLE for Super Cup final, confirms Xabi Alonso, with striker set to arrive in Saudi Arabia on Friday
Kylian Mbappe is set to be available for Real Madrid’s Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona on Sunday with the striker set to arrive in Saudi Arabia on Friday.
Mbappe was absent for Thursday’s semi-final against Atletico Madrid due to a knee injury, but his Real team-mates still prevailed 2-1 against their rivals to reach the final.
Having initially suggested Mbappe would miss the duration of the four-team tournament in the Middle East, manager Xabi Alonso now says the 27-year-old is set to join up with the squad.
The Real boss said: “He will come to Saudi in the next 24h, he feels much better. He has chances to play.”
Real progressed despite having to survive lots of pressure from their rivals, with Federico Valverde’s stunning free-kick and Rodrygo’s finish making the difference for Los Blancos.
“We knew how to suffer tonight,” Xabi Alonso said.
“Our goal tonight was to qualify, and we did that. So we’re happy.
“It was a hard-fought game. There were big moments for us and for them. It was a semi-final.”
