Eduardo Camavinga’s injury-hit season is over after Real Madrid announced the midfielder suffered a complete adductor tear against Getafe on Wednesday.

France international Camavinga replaced David Alaba at half-time in the 1-0 La Liga win, but the 22-year-old’s participation in the Fifa Club World Cup, which begins for Madrid against Al-Hilal in Florida on June 18, is in doubt because of the tear to his left adductor tendon.

Camavinga collided with Getafe midfielder Luis Milla in the 89th minute, leaving Madrid with 10 players for the closing stages because they did not have any remaining substitution windows.

Arda Guler struck the 21st-minute winner at Estadio Coliseum, leaving the reigning champions four points behind leaders Barcelona with five matches remaining.

Eduardo Camavinga injury: Which games will he miss?

Carlo Ancelotti had said it was unlikely Camavinga would feature against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday (21:00 BST), with the injury subsequently proving worse than Madrid’s manager had feared.

His recovery will take at least three months, according to AS.

Los Blancos host Celta Vigo on May 4 (13:00), Mallorca on May 14 (20:30) and Real Sociedad in their final game of the season, with a time and date for that fixture to be confirmed.

They face a potentially defining trip to Barca on May 11 (15:15), while the details of their visit to Sevilla in their penultimate match are yet to be confirmed.

Their Club World Cup schedule proceeds to a showdown with Mexican side Pachuca in Charlotte on June 22 and a meeting with Salzburg five days later.

Should they reach the knockout stage, their campaign will continue on June 30 or July 1, with the final in New Jersey on July 13.

Camavinga injuries, stats

Camavinga has had by far his worst run of injuries this season since joining Madrid from Rennes for £34.4 million in September 2021.

He was out for more than a month with a knee problem in August and September and has been absent for shorter periods with muscle and hamstring issues.

The two-time Champions League and two-time Liga winner had missed a total of 20 club and international games in 2024/25 before his latest injury.

Twenty-one of his 34 Madrid appearances in all competitions this season have been starts, and Camavinga has contributed two goals and two assists.
