Catch up with all the action from Cameroon vs Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Morocco continued their strong form at the Africa Cup of Nations with a comfortable 2-0 win over Cameroon, in the quarter-finals.
The opening stages were scrappy, with fouls and stoppages preventing either side from building rhythm.
Morocco gradually asserted themselves through set pieces and wide play, forcing a series of early corners. That pressure paid off in the 26th minute when Brahim Daaz reacted quickest inside the six-yard box, turning home from close range after Ayoub El Kaabi kept the ball alive following a corner.
Cameroon responded with increased urgency, threatening from their own set pieces before the break.
Christian Kofane and Nouhou Tolo both headed narrowly wide, but clear chances were limited as Morocco’s back line held firm. The first half ended with Morocco protecting a one-goal advantage amid mounting physicality, reflected in several yellow cards.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Cameroon pushing higher and Morocco looking to exploit space on the break. Devis Epassy was called into action shortly after the restart to deny Ismael Saibari from close range, while Abde Ezzalzouli and Ayoub El Kaabi both went close as Morocco continued to create the better openings.
The game was effectively decided in the 74th minute. From a set-piece situation, Nayef Aguerd’s knockdown found Saibari on the left side of the box, and the midfielder guided a low left-footed finish into the far corner to double Morocco’s lead.
Cameroon continued to press in the closing stages, earning several late corners and forcing blocks inside the area, but they were unable to find a way past the Moroccan defence.
Morocco managed the final minutes professionally, seeing out the match despite further stoppages and fouls.
