Eriksen collapses again during Denmark friendly with Ukraine

Former Tottenham and Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch during Denmark’s friendly clash with Ukraine on Sunday afternoon.

The 34-year-old fell to the floor, leading to the match being abandoned, with the Danish FA since confirming he is conscious.

It mirrors a similar incident during Euro 2020, where Eriksen clutched his chest before collapsing.

Sunday’s game was stopped in the second half when he collapsed and was abandoned shortly after. Fortunately, Eriksen was able to walk off the pitch himself.

The midfielder was fitted with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) after suffering a cardiac arrest five years ago.

“Christian is doing well and walked off the pitch by himself,” said Denmark’s national team doctor Morten Boesen.

“As I see it, the pacemaker responded as it should. He was briefly unconscious, but regained consciousness very quickly, and we were quickly in contact with him.

“He will now undergo further examinations at the hospital to determine what caused the incident.”
