Champions League draw: Real Madrid face immediate return to Benfica to face Mourinho and Trubin

Real Madrid will make an immediate return to Lisbon, the scene of their demoralising defeat on Wednesday night, having been paired with Benfica in today’s Champions League knockout round play-off draw.

Benfica beat Madrid 4-2 after a last-gasp goal from goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin saw them edge into the top 24 of the league phase at the expense of Marseille.

Trubin’s heroics were the story of a remarkable night but it left a sour taste for Alvaro Arbeloa’s side with striker Kylian Mbappe describing the concession of a goal to a goalkeeper as “embarrassing”.

Elsewhere, title holders Paris Saint-Germain face an all-Ligue 1 clash with Monaco. The principality club are 10th in the French top flight, 21 points behind table-topping PSG.

Bodo/Glimt, who secured a place in the play-offs after back-to-back wins over Manchester City and Atletico Madrid, are rewarded with a clash with Inter Milan while two-time European champions Juventus meet Galatasaray.

Newcastle face a long trip to Azerbaijan to take on a Qarabag side who were beaten 6-0 by Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday.

The draw for the knockout round, play-off is:

Borussia Dortmund v Atalanta

Olympiacos v Bayer Leverkusen

Galatasaray v Juventus

Club Brugge v Atletico Madrid

Monaco v Paris Saint-Germain

Qarabag v Newcastle

Benfica v Real Madrid

Bodo/Glimt v Inter Milan

The first legs will be played on February 17-18 and the second legs a week later on February 24-25.
