Anthony Joshua pays tribute to friends killed in Nigerian traffic accident
Joshua escaped with minor injuries from a crash that killed two of his close friends
Anthony Joshua has paid tribute to “brothers” Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele following their deaths in a car crash in Nigeria last month.
The former world heavyweight champion was in the SUV, alongside sport and exercise rehabilitation coach Ghami and personal trainer Ayodele, when it struck a stationary vehicle near Lagos on December 29.
Joshua, who sustained minor injuries, is now back in the UK and posted on Instagram earlier: “Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers.
”I didn’t even realise how special they are. I’ll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men.
“100% it’s tough for me, but I know it’s even tougher for their parents. I have a strong mind, and I believe God knows their hearts. May God have mercy on my brothers.’’
Joshua was celebrating win over Jake Paul
Joshua was in Nigeria, where he has family roots, for new year to celebrate his win over Jake Paul in Miami before Christmas.
The driver of the SUV, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, was charged in Nigeria on Friday with death by dangerous driving.
