Israeli newspaper Haaretz have reported a shocking story this week, as two Beitar Jerusalem fans have been arrested this week for axe attack on Hapoel Tel Aviv supporter.
The attack left the 32-year-old victim with an axe in his head.
The Hapoel fan has been left in a life threatening condition, and the police are viewing the crime as attempted murder.
Haaretz reported how the attack unfolded, as follows:
The well-known fan was attacked in Tel Aviv’s Florentin neighborhood after returning from a Hapoel Tel Aviv game in Kfar Sava.
Police suspect that Beitar fans ambushed Hapoel fans after they alighted from a bus from the Ultras organization next to a storage facility in South Tel Aviv, in which they store equipment.
A shocking picture of the victim taken at the hospital before his emergency operation is below.
This incident is just the latest stain on the reputation of Beitar Jerusalem: a club who are well-known for their hostile and aggressive ultras, who have long been connected with criminal activities.
Beitar are currently fifth in the Israeli top flight, while Hapoel Tel Aviv are one place behind them in sixth.
