Manchester United fans are behind a campaign to help Mario Balotelli become the Liverpool Player of the Year!
The fan vote section allows supporters of any club to give their backing to any player they wish, even the Italian flop.
Balotelli arrived from AC Milan last summer for £16 million and has scored only four goals since the move, including a measly one in the Premier League.
Now United fans want to wind up their bitter rivals by securing the award for Balotelli so that they can see him presented with it at the gala later in the season.
Balotelli seems to have a personal hatred of United. He struck against them when he was still at Manchester City in that derby mauling, revealing his famous ‘Why always me?’ t-shirt.
He also got into a scuffle against Chris Smalling last month that required intervening Liverpool fans to hold him back.
You can see below that one Twitter page dedicated to the Red Devils has promoted the campaign and has already received more than 200 retweets.
These type of voting campaigns occur regularly enough with the aim being to disrupt the status quo and stick it to the man.
A prominent example would be Rage against the Machine reaching the Christmas number one slot in 2009, beating whatever X Factor dross that it was competing with.
