Chelsea go into tonight’s home clash with Southampton desperately needing a win.
Enzo Maresca’s side have slipped to seventh in the Premier League following three defeats in their last four games, the latest being Saturday’s 2-1 setback at Aston Villa.
That sequence has dented their hopes of playing in next season’s Champions League but the congested nature of the table means a win against the Saints tonight could see them move back to fourth.

And if Maresca had to handpick an opponent he would likely plump for Southampton.
The South Coast club have amassed just nine points all season and an immediate return to the Championship is a formality.
Chelsea’s form has nosedived due to the absence of a recognised number nine with both Nicolas Jackson and back-up Marc Guiu sidelined through injury.
Christopher Nkunku was tried in attack, as was Cole Palmer, but Pedro Neto has looked the most capable, producing an impressive display at Villa Park.
The Portuguese is set to continue in that role tonight against a Southampton defence that has shipped 22 goals in their last seven league games.
And he appears a very good bet to either score or assist anytime at 8/15.
Hull to maintain improvement
Cardiff and Hull clash tonight in a game between two of the Championship’s strugglers. One of them, however, is showing signs of life.
Hull recruited heavily in January and it seems that and the implementation of Ruben Selles’ tactics finally sinking in has made a difference.
The Tigers were excellent in winning 1-0 at Sunderland on Saturday, ending the Wearsiders’ unbeaten home record, and we fancy them to take another stride towards safety in South Wales.
