Real Madrid handed blow as summer target’s Barcelona agreement revealed
Real Madrid have been handed a transfer blow for the summer as it has emerged that one of the club’s targets, Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui, already has an agreement in place with Barcelona.
As per Diario Sport.as, Los Blancos are keen to add competition for Dani Carvajal at right-back this summer, with the Spanish defender still struggling to remain injury-free for any significant period of time. This has led to both Zinedine Zidane and Carlo Ancelotti fielding Lucas Vazquez as a makeshift full-back when the 29-year-old is sidelined.
As a result of his ability and contract situation, Real were therefore hoping to lure Moroccan full-back Mazraoui to the Santiago Bernabeu as a low-cost solution to their issue. However, Barcelona have reportedly already beaten them to the punch.
The Spanish outlet add that Ancelotti’s side ‘could not sign the Ajax fullback, whose contract ends this summer because he is already committed to Barcelona. Bayern also tried .’
Is the tide turning in Spain?
Barcelona’s fall from grace was supposed to be painful and protracted when they were forced to part ways with Lionel Messi last summer thanks to issues with the club’s wage bill.
However, in just 8 months the predicament seems to have turned around, and their most recent 4-0 drubbing of Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu suggests that the balance of power in Spain may be shifting once more in favour of the Catalan club.
