Graham Potter speaks out over Mason Mount’s Chelsea future

Chelsea head coach Graham Potter has, on Friday, provided an insight into the ongoing contract negotiations between the club’s brass, and Mason Mount.

The subject of Mount’s future, of course, has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in west London across much of the season to date.

This comes as the powers that be at Stamford Bridge continue work towards tying the English international down for the long-term.

After a contract renewal agreement was at one point viewed as a near formality between the two parties, negotiations have since dragged on in concerning fashion, culminating in suggestions that, should he not commit to fresh terms soon, Mount could be moved on come the summer.

Links to a number of direct Premier League rivals, in turn, have followed, with Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool understood to be keeping a particularly close eye on the situation of the 24-year-old.

Speaking to the media on Friday, as alluded to above, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Mount’s future was put to manager Graham Potter once more.

After admitting that he has left the situation ‘with Mason and the club’, Potter was keen to heap praise on his midfield star, before finally confirming his hope that a resolution in negotiations will soon be found:
