Liverpool attacker ‘confident’ of AC Milan switch as contract agreement nears

Word stemming from the Italian media on Monday points towards an imminent move to Serie A for an out-of-favour member of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad.

The player in line to depart? Divock Origi. His likely destination? AC Milan.

As per a report from Antonio Vitiello of CorSport, Tuttomercatoweb and more, Belgian hitman Origi has been identified as an ideal addition to Milan’s attacking ranks ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

This comes with the two senior centre-forward options currently at the disposal of Stefano Pioli – in the form of Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic – now in the twilight years of their respective careers.

A fresh round of contacts between those in a position of power at the San Siro, and Origi’s representatives, are in turn expected imminently, with a view to finalising a free agent deal for the summer.

Reds woes

Word of his imminent exit of course comes amid what has proven another difficult season for Origi on Merseyside.

Sitting behind both Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino in the battle for centre-forward duties under Jurgen Klopp, the ex-Lille talent has been afforded a paltry five starts across all competitions.

To his credit, even across such limited game-time, Origi has managed to make an impact, to the tune of five goals and two assists (including substitute appearances).

One such goal, meanwhile, came against none other than his predicted future employers, when the 26-year-old bagged the winner during a Champions League group stage clash at the San Siro back in December.
