AC Milan put end to Arsenal speculation as star midfielder pens new long-term deal

AC Milan have, on Friday, confirmed that a key member of the club’s first-team setup has committed his long-term future to the Italian giants.

The player in question? Sandro Tonali.

The name of midfielder Tonali, of course, took its place centre stage in the headlines across Europe over the latter weeks of the summer transfer window.

This came amid reports that Premier League outfit Arsenal had set their sights firmly on the all-action Italian international, amid ongoing efforts to reinforce Mikel Arteta’s ranks in the middle of the park.

Having already lost one starting member of the club’s engine room ranks upon Franck Kessie opting to link up with Barcelona on a free transfer, though, the Rossoneri stood refused to even come to the table to discuss Tonali’s potential sale.

And now, as alluded to above, Paolo Maldini and co. have gone one better.

In a statement across the club’s official website and social media platforms, Milan announced that:

‘AC Milan is delighted to announce the extension of Sandro Tonali’s contract until 30 June 2027.

‘Sandro, who joined the Club in 2020, is a paragon of determination and attachment to the Rossoneri colours.’
