Nico Paz scored a sensational early goal to give Como a shock 1-0 lead against Manchester United in their Champions League clash on Wednesday evening.
The Argentine midfielder stunned Michael Carrick’s side inside the opening two minutes at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, producing a brilliant curling finish to put the Italian hosts ahead.
Paz found himself in space near the edge of the United penalty area before moving past Harry Maguire and bending a superb left-footed effort into the far corner.
It was another moment of individual brilliance from the highly-rated 22-year-old, who has established himself as one of Serie A’s most exciting young talents since joining Como from Real Madrid.
Paz also headed home in Como’s 3-1 win over Fiorentina on Sunday, continuing his impressive form ahead of the visit of the Premier League giants.
United, meanwhile, arrived in Italy looking to improve their Champions League record under Carrick, having won just one of their previous seven away matches in the competition’s league or group stage.
The visitors had an early opportunity of their own when Diogo Dalot fired wide, but Paz’s stunning strike quickly turned the contest in Como’s favour.
