Brentford vs Liverpool Premier League preview

Liverpool have had a mixed week, losing 3-0 at home to Manchester City in the league last Sunday followed by a 6-3 victory at Austrian side LASK in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Premier League has been a struggle for the Merseysiders so far. Liverpool have won just two of their opening six games, are already nine points behind leaders City and have scored only once in their last three league matches. Defeat on Saturday could slip them into the bottom half.

Brentford are strong at home. The Bees are unbeaten in eight games in all competitions and, while they have drawn four of their last five league matches, Kristoffer Ajer’s late equaliser at Aston Villa last Saturday showed their resilience once again. They’ve also scored 12 league goals to Liverpool’s seven.

There’s a familiar face waiting for Liverpool, too. Caoimhin Kelleher spent years as Alisson’s understudy at Anfield before joining Brentford in 2025, and he’ll be keen to show his old club what they’re missing.
