Fantasy Premier League 2026/27 : Manchester City duo headline five players to consider ahead of Gameweek 7

Gameweek Six in Fantasy Premier League delivered plenty of surprises, and with another round of fixtures approaching, there are some interesting players worth considering. Manchester City’s home meeting with Ipswich looks particularly appealing, while a couple of cheaper forwards could reward managers willing to look beyond the usual names.

Here are five players I’d consider bringing in this week.

Rayan Cherki

    Price: 7.9m
    Ownership 32.2%
    Position: Midfielder
    Opponent: IPS (H), AVL (A), BHA (H)

It feels daft to spend 15.6m on Haaland and ignore the other City player causing problems. Cherki has four goals and two assists in just 392 league minutes, and nobody in City’s midfield has managed more than his 14 shots or 14 chances created. Ipswich arrive at the Etihad without a clean sheet and rank among the league’s worst sides for expected goals conceded. The worry is the team sheet. Cherki played against PSG in midweek and Foden is back, so Maresca has options. Still, if he starts, 7.9m looks a decent price for this fixture.

    Gonzalo Garcia

      Price: 6.1m
      Ownership: 7.2%
      Position:  Forward
      Opponent: HUL (H), COV (A), AVL (A)

Garcia has scored once in six matches, which doesn’t sound particularly exciting for a striker. His 3.0 xG tell a different story. He’s started every league match, keeps getting chances in the box and now has Hull at home followed by Coventry away. Fulham have been poor, and Saturday’s late defeat at Ipswich won’t have helped confidence, but they’ve created considerably more than their goal tally suggests. Hull have made a better start than some expected, so this isn’t a guaranteed return. For managers shopping around 6m, though, Garcia offers minutes, chances and two fixtures worth attacking.

      Joško Gvardiol

        Price: 5.8m
        Ownership: 28.1%
        Position: Defender
        Opponent : IPS (H), AVL (A), BHA (H)

It hasn’t been plain sailing for Gvardiol, yet he’s still managed 41 FPL points in six Gameweeks. That tells you why he interests me more than a defender who needs his team to keep a zero. City host Ipswich this weekend before facing Villa, Brighton, Forest and Fulham, so there is a decent run to work with rather than just one soft opponent. Gvadiol is 5.8m, he’s not cheap, and his attacking returns have come from relatively few opportunities. He’s also played 458 of a possible 540 minutes, which makes rotation the catch. I’d still back the fixture.

        Dominic Calvert-Lewin

          Price: 6.0m
          Ownership: 22.6%
          Position: Forward
          Opponent: MUN (H), SUN (A), BOU (A)

Calvert-Lewin has been sold by plenty of managers, but Leeds’ fixture list is about to give them a reason to reconsider. The striker has had six big chances in six games, putting him among the league’s most regularly supplied forwards. Manchester United come to Elland Road without a clean sheet this season, and Sunderland and Bournemouth follow. Both have conceded 12 or more goals already. He isn’t the sort of forward you buy expecting two goals every Saturday, and Leeds won’t dominate every game. But at 6.0m, those chances and the next few opponents make him a reasonable gamble.

          Marcus Tavernier

            Price: 6.1m
            Ownership: 7.3%
            Position: Midfielder
            Opponent: SUN (H), MUN (A), LEE (H)

Bournemouth were well beaten by Chelsea last weekend, so this might feel an odd time to buy one of their players. Tavernier is still worth a look. He’s scored three times this season, has been involved in Bournemouth’s better attacking moves and can pick up points from set pieces as well as open play. Sunderland come to the Vitality Stadium having conceded 12 goals in six league matches, with Leeds at home and Ipswich away also on the horizon. The Manchester United trip in between isn’t ideal. At 6.1m, I’d rather take that fixture run than write him off because of one poor team performance.
