Preview for Spain v Czechia

Spain will be aiming to maintain their perfect start to the UEFA Nations League when they welcome the Czech Republic to Oviedo on Saturday night.

La Roja sit top of League A Group 3 with six points from their opening two matches, while the visitors are bottom after beginning their campaign with successive defeats.

Luis de la Fuente’s side began with an impressive 3-2 win over England at Wembley before following that resul with a convincing 4-1 triumph over Croatia on Tuesday.

Spain have now won nine successive matches across all competitions and have not been beaten inside 90 minutes since losing a friendly against Colombia in March 2024.

La Roja won the Nations League in 2022-23 before reaching the final again in 2024-25, where they were beaten by Portugal on penalties.

The Czech Republic arrive in Oviedo under considerably more pressure after losing their opening two matches.

Santi Denia’s side began with a 2-1 home defeat against Croatia before England left Prague with a 2-0 victory three days later.

That leaves the Czech Republic bottom of Group 3 without a point and facing two difficult assignments against Spain and England.

Team News for Spain v Czechia

De la Fuente could make several changes to the Spain team that started the 4-1 victory over Croatia.

Aymeric Laporte is among those pushing to return in defence, while Rodri and Dani Olmo could both come back into the midfield.

Nico Williams and Ferran Torres are also contenders to start in attack as De la Fuente takes advantage of the depth available in his squad.

The Czech Republic will be without Pavel Sulc following his red card against England.

Adam Karabec is also a major doubt after being forced off during the first half of the defeat to the Three Lions.

Alex Kral and Ondrej Lingr could therefore be introduced into the starting XI, while Adam Hlozek should continue as the visitors’ central striker.

Where to Watch Spain v Czechia: TV and online streams

Spain v Czech Republic kicks off at 7:45pm BST on Saturday, October 3. The match will be available to watch live in the UK on Amazon Prime Video, with subscribers able to stream the game through the Prime Video app and website.

Prediction for Spain v Czechia

Spain have started the new Nations League campaign strongly, scoring seven times against England and Croatia to take control of the group.

The Czech Republic have struggled at the other end of the table and now face arguably their toughest assignment of the campaign against the reigning world and European champions.

With Yamal in excellent form and De la Fuente able to freshen up his starting XI with players such as Rodri, Olmo and Williams, Spain should have far too much attacking quality for their visitors.
