Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will face off at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on December 11.
The long-awaited clash between the two former world heavyweight champions was finally confirmed on Thursday, with the pair set to stage a press conference next Wednesday.
Both Brits came through warm-up fights in July to tee up a showdown that would have had far more appeal years earlier. Fury saw off Mariusz Wach with a seventh-round stoppage, while Joshua survived a huge scare against Kristian Prenga.
Joshua was knocked down twice by the Albanian before stopping the little-known Prenga in round two.
That was Joshua’s first fight since he survived a car crash in Nigeria that killed his close friends Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele.
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn had made clear his preference for the fight to be staged at Wembley Stadium, with the agreement made with the Saudi Arabian organisers financing the bout stating it must be held in Britain, and that a change in venue to the United States would require the contract to be reworked.
Still, there had been talk of the contest taking place at Madison Square Garden, where Joshua infamously suffered a shock defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr. in June 2019 before winning the rematch six months later in Saudi Arabia.
Instead, it will be held in Cardiff, the scene of his wins over Carlos Takam and Joseph Parker. Fury has never previously fought at the Principality Stadium.
The fight is being labelled as a collaboration between Saudi boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh and UFC supremo Dana White.
“Two of the best heavyweights of this generation, finally in the ring together,” Alalshikh said.
“This will be one of the biggest fights in boxing history. I am very happy to make this fight happen for the fans.”
Fury (36-2-1) enters the fight as the favourite, his only career defeats having come at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk.
Joshua (30-4) also lost two title bouts to Usyk, his other loss outside of the Ruiz upset coming when he was stopped in the fifth round by Daniel Dubois in September, 2024 at Wembley.
