On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Rams (0-1) will be facing off against the New York Giants (1-0). This upcoming Week 2 match will take place at the SoFi Stadium.
It has been a disjointed beginning to the campaign for the Rams. The pre-season betting favourites were stunned 27-7 by the San Francisco 49ers in their opener, with Matthew Stafford putting up just 155 yards and no touchdowns on 15 completions.
The Giants, meanwhile, arrive having turned heads in Week 1. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart completed 23 of 29 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns without an interception in the 28-20 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Sunday Night Football.
New York rushed for 165 yards at 4.5 yards per carry and converted nine of their first ten third downs in what was a dominant all-round performance from John Harbaugh’s side in his first competitive game as Giants head coach.
Stafford, speaking on his weekly SiriusXM show alongside co-host Jim Gray, acknowledged the challenge ahead. “I saw a young team with a bunch of talent,” he said of Dart and the Giants, having watched the victory over Dallas closely.
The most significant concern for New York heading into this game is the state of their cornerback group, which has been hit hard by injuries at the worst possible moment.
Paulson Adebo has been placed on injured reserve with a knee issue and will miss at least the next four games. Deonte Banks, who did not practice on Friday with a calf problem, is doubtful.
Greg Newsome III, limited in practice with a rib complaint, is uncertain. Three cornerbacks from a group that will now have to deal with the combination of Puka Nacua and Davante Adams.
Nacua was the Rams’ leading receiver in Week 1 with five catches for 74 yards in an otherwise quiet offensive showing. Adams, signed in the offseason to give Stafford his most prolific target since his peak years in Detroit, will be looking for his first big statement in a Rams uniform.
The Rams’ own injury news has been equally significant. Myles Garrett, the cornerstone of a remodelled defensive line and the player who was supposed to make Los Angeles one of the most feared fronts in the league this season, has been placed on injured reserve following knee surgery.
The silver lining for the Rams is the anticipated return of Aaron Donald, who is set to make his season debut on Monday night having been held out of Week 1 with a rest designation.

The Giants are underdogs according, and on paper that gap reflects the difference in expected ceiling between the two rosters. But Los Angeles have injuries of their own to manage, an offence that badly underperformed in Week 1, and a defence missing its most important pass rusher.
The Giants, by contrast, arrive with momentum, a quarterback performing beyond his billing and a run game that will punish a front seven still finding its feet without Garrett.
