Preview for Tottenham v Aston Villa
Tottenham and Aston Villa will meet in a Premier League clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday lunchtime, with both sides still waiting for their first league win of the 2026-27 campaign.
Spurs have taken two points from their opening four matches, while Villa have managed just one. Both teams will be looking for a much-needed result before the international break.
De Zerbi’s side are 17th in the table with two points, while only Coventry City have also failed to score in the Premier League this season.
Tottenham will be hoping their midweek goal against Liverpool can finally open the floodgates, although they face a Villa side who have also struggled badly in front of goal during the opening weeks of the campaign.
Unai Emery’s team have taken just one point from their first four league matches, losing to Brighton, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest while drawing with Hull City.
Villa’s first league goal of the season finally arrived against Forest last weekend, but Liam Delap and Igor Jesus had already put the visitors in control before Alysson pulled one back in a 2-1 defeat.
There was a much-needed response in midweek, however, as Tammy Abraham scored twice in a 3-1 EFL Cup win over Coventry City.
Villa have now scored seven goals in their last three matches across all competitions after managing just one in their opening four games.
They also have a strong recent record against Tottenham, winning four of their last five meetings with Spurs. The exception came in May, when Tottenham secured a crucial 2-1 win at Villa Park.

Team News for Tottenham v Aston Villa
Tottenham midfielder Sandro Tonali missed the EFL Cup defeat to Liverpool after picking up an unspecified knock and remains a doubt for Saturday.
Pedro Porro is also a question mark due to a muscle issue, while Dejan Kulusevski, Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert and Mykhaylo Mudryk remain unavailable.
James Maddison has made consecutive substitute appearances against Everton and Liverpool and could now be ready for a longer spell on the pitch.
