Jude Bellingham produced one of the individual performances of the early La Liga season to help Real Madrid dismantle a helpless Malaga side 4-0 at the Bernabeu.
Bellingham struck in the 19th minute with a piece of skill that brought the Bernabeu to its feet, collecting the ball 25 yards from goal, holding off a challenge from Recio and dancing past Rafita before driving a measured finish into the bottom left corner.
VAR checked a Malaga complaint about a foul in the build-up and quickly dismissed it. The stadium responded with a chorus of Hey Jude that echoed around the stadium for the next several minutes.
The second goal arrived in the 26th minute through unfortunate circumstances for Malaga goalkeeper Alfonso Herrero. Brahim Diaz drove forward and slipped the ball to Mbappe, who spun sharply inside the area and forced a save, but the parried ball spun up and Bellingham was there to nod goalwards.
As Puga slid desperately to keep it out, the ball deflected off Herrero and into the net.
Three minutes before the interval, it was effectively over. Trent Alexander-Arnold burst down the right and whipped in a first-time delivery that Mbappe met with a clean sweep into the corner.
The second half was a training exercise for Mourinho’s side. Bellingham was inches away from a third goal when he drove against the outside of the post, Herrero was forced into several excellent saves and the referee briefly pointed to the spot in the 85th minute for an apparent handball by Yan Diomande, before being called to the monitor and overturning his own decision.
The fourth came deep in stoppage time when Vinicius Junior carried the ball to the byline and cut it back for Arda Guler, introduced moments earlier for the outstanding Bellingham, to sweep home from close range.
