Tottenham have announced the signing of Egypt international forward Omar Marmoush from Manchester City on a season-long loan.
The deal includes an obligation for Spurs to make the move permanent next summer, with Marmoush becoming the latest addition to Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.
Marmoush said he was excited to join Tottenham and believes the club’s project was a major factor in his decision.
“It feels amazing to be here. I’m so excited to get started with the team and I can’t wait to meet the fans,” he said.
“Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the world, and the project was very attractive to me.
“I’ve spoken with the Head Coach, I loved what he had to say and I’m sure our passion for the game will go very well together.”
Tottenham sporting director Johan Lange described Marmoush’s arrival as a statement of the club’s ambition.
“Omar is a quality player and his arrival represents a statement of our intent,” Lange said.
“He has demonstrated that he can perform at the highest level, and we believe he can play a major role in what we want to achieve over the coming years.”
De Zerbi welcomes eighth signing
De Zerbi also welcomed the Egypt international, highlighting his attacking ability and desire to improve.
“Omar is exactly the kind of player we want at this club – ambitious, hungry and determined to make a difference,” he said.
“He has incredible attacking quality but what I also love is his desire to improve and to win.
“He brings pace, intelligence and a real threat in front of goal, and I believe he can take our attacking play to another level.”
Marmoush began his professional career with Wadi Degla in Egypt, making his debut at the age of 17 in July 2016 before moving to Germany to join Wolfsburg the following year.
After initially playing for Wolfsburg’s youth side, he made his senior debut in May 2020 and subsequently spent time on loan at St Pauli and Stuttgart.
His breakthrough came during his loan spell with Stuttgart in the 2021-22 season, when he scored on his debut and won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award twice.
Marmoush returned to Wolfsburg for the 2022-23 campaign and made 48 appearances, scoring six goals, before joining Eintracht Frankfurt in May 2023.
He scored 17 goals in 41 appearances during his first season at Frankfurt and continued to impress the following campaign, winning the Bundesliga Player of the Month award in September and November 2024.
Marmoush finished his Frankfurt career with 37 goals and 20 assists in 67 appearances before joining Manchester City in January 2025.
Immediate impact in England
He made an immediate impact in England, scoring a hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Newcastle United in February 2025.
Marmoush made 25 appearances in his first half-season at City, scoring eight goals, before claiming the Premier League Goal of the Season award for his strike against Bournemouth in May 2025.
He ended his City spell with 16 goals in 62 appearances and helped the club win the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
At international level, Marmoush scored on his Egypt debut against Libya in October 2021 and has since won 55 caps and scored 11 goals.
He helped Egypt reach the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final, has featured at three Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and represented his country at his first World Cup this summer.
