Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Liam Delap from Chelsea on a five-year deal, with the striker convinced boss Oliver Glasner can take his career to the next level.
Forest are reported to have paid a club-record £50million to take Delap to the City Ground.
Delap joined Chelsea from Ipswich Town in June last year, but he made a minimal impact in his only season at Stamford Bridge.
Though he won the Club World Cup soon after joining the club, Delap scored just three goals in 47 appearances for the Blues.
Glasner key to Delap’s Forest move
Delap netted 12 goals for Ipswich in 2024-25 in a campaign that saw them relegated from the Premier League, and is hopeful he can recapture that kind of form under Glasner at Forest.
“I really can’t wait to get started, this is a massive club with a big history,” Delap told Forest’s official website.
“I spoke to the manager and I like his way, I think he can be the one to really help me develop and make that next step and hopefully I can bring goals here.
“I can’t wait to hear the noise at the City Ground and have the fans on my side because I know how loud and important they are.
“As a team we can build something really strong and the main aim is to challenge and be a top club in the Premier League.”
Forest lost their opening two games of the season, suffering a 1-0 defeat to Leeds United at the City Ground in their Premier League opener before the same opposition beat them 2-0 in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.
Delap could make his debut for Forest when they visit Liverpool on Saturday.
