WATCH: Hull stun Manchester United twice on Premier League return

Manchester United have fallen behind to Hull in their Premier League opener.

The Red Devils have not been at the races so far in Saturday’s early action, with the newly-promoted side seizing the initiative and punishing their lethargic opponents.

Despite dominating much of the ball in the first half, Michael Carrick’s men have not been able to deal with the physicality of the Tigets, losing duels and not having as much energy as the hosts.

More than once, United nearly fell behind, and their luck was bound to run out eventually.

After conceding a corner in the 17th minute, a messy delivery saw Ollie McBurnie poke the ball towards goal, with Senne Lammens keeping it from crossing the line.

But defender Semi Ajayi was there to rifle home the rebound, igniting the MKM Stadium in the proccess.

Double delight for Hull

If you thought the crowd could not get any louder, you would be wrong.

Despite sitting back for 10 minutes after scoring the opener, it was still Hull who were creating the better chances in the match.

And the second goal would eventually follow.

From another set piece, Regan Slater fired a whipping cross towards Lammens’ goal.

This time, it was met by Nobel Mendy, who headed home, causing the MKM to erupt once more.

United’s travelling contingent were left stunned, as were the commentary team and Michael Carrick, who has a mountain to climb in the second half to avoid defeat in the opening game of the season.
