Former England striker Wilson makes Brentford move

Brentford have signed Callum Wilson on a one-year deal after the former England man left relegated West Ham.

The 34-year-old has scored 95 Premier League goals for the Hammers, Newcastle and Bournemouth and brings plenty of quality and experience to the Bees’ attack.

Wilson scored seven goals and provided one assist in 35 appearances across all competitions last season for West Ham, with 12 of those coming as starts.

“There is unbelievable quality in the dressing room, and I’ve met people today who are all very welcoming. You do get that family feel here so, like I say, I’m looking forward to getting started,” Wilson said.

Internationally, the forward has earned nine England caps and scored twice, including a debut goal against the United States at Wembley in November 2018.

Wilson will back up Brazil forward Igor Thiago, who enjoyed a sensational breakthrough season for Brentford last year, netting 25 goals across all competitions.

Brentford kick off their new Premier League campaign at home against Tottenham Hotspur on August 22.
