Championship round-up: Millwall slip-up as Leicester fail to climb out of relegation zone

There was a full programme of Championship fixtures on Easter Monday as teams continued their bid to gain promotion to the Premier League or survive the drop.

Top-of-the-table chasers Millwall and Ipswich were both in action in the afternoon clashes, while a huge game at the bottom between Portsmouth and Oxford was also on the cards.

Leicester, West Brom and Blackburn were also hoping to strengthen their survival bid.

You can catch up with the best of the action, as well as a full list of results, from all the second-tier fixtures on Monday.

Millwall stumble against Norwich

Norwich came from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Millwall in a lively second half at The Den.

After a quiet first period, the game burst into life following the restart, with Millwall taking the lead on 56 minutes through Mihailo Ivanovic, who headed home from close range after good work from Casper De Norre.

Norwich responded well and equalised just six minutes later in spectacular fashion, as Pelle Mattsson fired a superb long-range effort into the top corner.

The decisive moment arrived on 76 minutes when substitute Oscar Schwartau finished from close range after a sharp counter-attack led by Mohamed Toure.

Ipswich take advantage

Ipswich came from behind to beat Birmingham in a lively contest.

The visitors struck first in the 32nd minute, with Carlos Vicente finishing clinically to give Birmingham the lead against the run of play.

Ipswich responded well, increasing their attacking pressure, and found an equaliser through Ben Johnson, who converted from close range after a dangerous delivery into the box.

Momentum firmly swung in Ipswich’s favour late in the first half, and they completed the turnaround just before the break.

Kasey McAteer latched onto a well-weighted through ball from George Hirst and finished well to make it 2-1.

Leicester drop more points

Sheffield Wednesday were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw after a relentless late push from Leicester at Hillsborough.

The hosts made a dream start, striking inside two minutes through Jerry Yates, who reacted quickest in the box to turn home from close range following a corner.

Leicester, however, grew into the contest after the interval and began to dominate.

Patson Daka and Stephy Mavididi were both denied by an inspired Pierce Charles, who produced a string of sharp saves to keep the hosts in front.

The pressure finally told in the 84th minute when Jordan Ayew stepped up with a moment of quality, driving a low effort from distance into the bottom corner to bring Leicester level.
