Real Madrid will look to respond to consecutive La Liga defeats when they travel to Balaidos to face Celta Vigo on Friday evening.

Recent results have seen Los Blancos slip to second place in the table, now four points behind leaders Barcelona, while Celta have climbed to sixth and are firmly in the race for European qualification.

Celta head into the contest in strong form after recording back-to-back league victories against Mallorca and Girona. Those results have lifted Claudio Giraldez’s side into the top six, leaving them four points clear of Espanyol and three behind fifth-placed Real Betis.

Los Blancos have collected 27 points from 13 away league games, giving them the strongest away record in the division.

Celta already hold a notable result against Real Madrid this season, having secured a 2-0 win when the two sides met at the Santiago Bernabeu in December.

Real Madrid are also dealing with a lengthy injury list, including the absence of leading scorer Kylian Mbappe. The situation has worsened following the news that Rodrygo suffered a serious knee injury against Getafe, an issue expected to keep the Brazilian sidelined for the majority of the year.

Team news for Celta Vigo v Real Madrid

Celta will welcome back Borja Iglesias from suspension. The striker has scored 14 goals in all competitions this season and missed the recent win over Girona.

However, Marcos Alonso, Carl Starfelt and Pablo Duran remain unavailable through injury.

Ferran Jutgla could shift into a wider role to accommodate Iglesias in attack, while Miguel Roman is expected to retain his place in midfield.

Real Madrid have been hit hard by injuries and suspensions. Rodrygo’s ACL injury is set to keep him out for an extended period, while Kylian Mbappe, Dani Ceballos, David Alaba, Jude Bellingham and Eder Militao are also unavailable.

Franco Mastantuono is suspended after his red card against Getafe, and both Alvaro Carreras and Dean Huijsen miss the game due to accumulated yellow cards.

Eduardo Camavinga missed the Getafe defeat due to a dental issue but has returned to training and could feature. Raul Asencio is also hopeful of recovering from a neck problem in time to play in defence.
