Salford could have been forgiven for having feelings of apprehension over their FA Cup fourth round tie at Manchester City on February 14.

The League Two side had lost 8-0 at the Etihad Stadium the previous season, while City put 10 past Exeter in the previous round this time around.

The only crumb of positivity for the visitors was the fact Pep Guardiola would field a much-changed line-up after admitting many of his key players were “exhausted” following the midweek win over Fulham.
