Chelsea v Brentford: Updates, goals and stats as they happened in Premier League

Liam Rosenior was hoping for his first home win as Chelsea head coach when Brentford visited Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Blues had been beaten 3-2 at home by Arsenal in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final the previous Wednesday and, although Rosenior claimed he was happy with his players’ performance, he must have been alarmed by the gulf in class between the sides.

Brentford were poised to pose another difficult test, starting the weekend fifth after a five-match unbeaten league run including four wins.

Chelsea were two points behind Brentford and winless in five top-flight games following their 2-1 defeat at Fulham on January 7.
