Newcastle will hope to claim a first-leg advantage, and edge a step closer to a Wembley return, when they host Manchester City in the EFL Cup semi-finals tonight.

Newcastle claimed the trophy last year to record their first piece of domestic silverware in 70 years.

City have become accustomed to Wembley trips over recent years but they haven’t won this competition since 2021.

Both teams won in the FA Cup at the weekend, with City beating Exeter 10-1 and Newcastle edging past Bournemouth on a penalty shoot-out.
