Injured Barcelona striker Lewandowski could miss El Clasico
Poland international injured after scoring
Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski has been ruled out of action with a hamstring injury picked up on international duty – and he could miss the next Clasico.
The 37-year-old scored in a 2-0 win for Poland against Lithuania at the weekend and despite saying after the game there was no problem, Barca have now confirmed the injury.
Barcelona have already seen Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo pick up injuries while away with Spain this week.
The club said: “He will be sidelined, and his recovery time will depend on how the injury progresses.”
Lewandowski is out of contract with Barca at the end of this season and has been linked with a move away from the Spanish giants.
He is Poland’s record international goalscorer with 73 goals in 110 caps.
Spanish media are reporting that Lewandowski could be sidelined for between four to six weeks.
Barcelona face La Liga leaders Real Madrid in a Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu on October 26, while the forward is also set to miss Champions League matches against Olympiakos and Club Brugge.
