Wolves set to sign Club World Cup star Jhon Arias from Fluminese

Wolves have reached a deal with Brazilian side Fluminense to bring Colombian international Jhon Arias to the Premier League, according to reports.

The agreement is believed to be in the region of €22 million (£25.5m), giving Wolves 90% of the player’s sporting rights.

Fluminense will retain a 10% stake in any future sale and retain a preferential option if Arias chooses to return to Brazilian football down the line after trying his luck in the Premier League.

Arias, 27, has been a key figure for Fluminense since his arrival in August 2021.

In 229 appearances for the club, he has registered 47 goals and 55 assists. His contributions helped the team capture the Copa Libertadores title in 2023.

This summer, Arias featured in all six of Fluminense’s matches at the Club World Cup, netting one goal and supplying one assist as the Brazilian side impressed alongside the other South American sides.

The Colombian winger is expected to make a farewell appearance for Fluminense when they face Cruzeiro at the Maracana on July 17.

He will then join up with Wolves ahead of their pre-season tour and beginning of the new Premier League season.

The Midlands side have been on the hunt for attacking reinforcements after selling Matheus Cunha to Manchester United in a £60m deal.

Arias’ arrival will give the side more goalscoring threat as they look to avoid relegation in 2025-26.
