Liverpool announce Diogo Jota and Andre Silva tributes for Preston friendly

Liverpool have confirmed tributes will be paid to Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva ahead of their pre-season friendly at Preston North End on Sunday.

The Premier League champions will play for the first time since Liverpool forward Jota and Penafiel midfielder Silva were killed in a car accident in north-western Spain eight days ago.

Tributes have poured in from across the football world since the tragedy, and both Jota and Silva will be remembered at Deepdale when Liverpool begin their preparations for the new season.

Liverpool anthem ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ will be sung before the 3pm kick-off, while Preston will lay a wreath alongside the away supporters.

A minute’s silence will then be held, during which time tributes to Jota and Silva will be played on pitchside screens.

Both Preston and Liverpool players will wear black armbands for the game, which will be broadcast in the UK on ITV.

The pre-match tributes will also be aired on Liverpool’s social accounts, as well as on the club’s YouTube channel.
