Atletico Madrid 1-0 Botafogo: Madrid out of Club World Cup despite win
Antonie Griezmann's winner is not enough for Atleti to progress
Antoine Griezmann found a late winner at the Rose Bowl to beat Botafogo – but the Brazilians progress to the last 16 of the Club World Cup along with Champions League winners PSG.
Atletico’s heavy 4-0 defeat to the Parisians in their opening game left them needing a big win in California and despite France forward Griezmann’s best efforts they could not produce the goods.
Indeed, goalkeeper Jan Oblak needed to make a brilliant save to keep the Brazilian side out.

Substitute Griezmann did find space inside the area to swivel and power home but it was not enough to prevent an early flight home for Diego Simeone’s side.
Alexander Sorloth wasted a great chance to double the lead when he headed wide from inside the six-yard box.
Botafogo – who beat PSG in an earlier game – will now face the winners of Group A in the last 16.
