Old Trafford fell silent in the 34th minute when Everton hotshot striker Nikica Jelavic sent a header across goal and into the far corner. The Red Devils weren’t behind for long as Wayne Rooney headed in the equaliser against his boyhood club following Nani’s inswinging cross in the 40th. Manchester United moved in front in the 56th courtesy of a brilliant curler from Danny Welbeck, and minutes later it looked game over for the Toffees as Luis Nani ran through on goal to add number three. Everton hit back in the 66th minute with a sublime volley from Marouane Fellaini the sneaked into a De Gea’s near post. Wayne Rooney bypassed George Best and Dennis Violett to become Man United’s 3rd highest ever goalscorer when he sidefooted in a fourth with 20 minutes remaining. Everton hit back again in the 82nd minute when a Neville dink towards Fellaini fell perfectly for Nikica Jelavic and the forward drilled home the half volley. Two minutes later it was incredibly 4-4 as Fellaini fed the ball into Steven Pienaar and the South Africa steered in a memorable leveller.
