RUMOUR: Arsenal have a £26.5m bid for Hulk accepted by Zenit, medical before the World Cup [NBC Sports]

Russian media outlets are all reporting on Thursday that Arsenal have a £26.5m bid for Hulk accepted by Zenit St Petersburg.

There is reason to pause though over the credibility of the story, which would clearly be a massive singing for the Gunners if it turns out to be true.

The Russian media outlets are collectively basing their reports on a tweet posted by NBC Sports journalist Michael Stafford on Wednesday.

UPDATE: It has since been brought to our attention the Michael Stafford is a fraud.

According to Stafford, “Zenit Saint Petersburg have accepted a bid from Arsenal for Player Hulk and will have a Medical before the world cup”.

Stafford also elaborated on his report to add that Arsenal initially had a bid rejected by Zenit, until the Gunners returned with an improved offer of £26.5m. That has been said to be high enough to sign the Brazilian international forward.
